Fortinet Contributes to World Economic Forum’s Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework
Today, there is a shortage of nearly 4 million cybersecurity professionals worldwide. Businesses everywhere feel the impacts of this cybersecurity skills shortfall, with 84% experiencing at least one breach in the past 12 months.
Additionally, nearly 70% of leaders indicate their organization faces additional risks due to the cybersecurity skills shortage.
Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework is a product of the World Economic Forum’s Bridging the Cyber Skills Gap initiative, which brings together more than 50 global public and private organizations committed to building sustainable cybersecurity talent pipelines.
This output offers actionable approaches for using as a reference for public and private decision-makers concerned by the industry workforce shortage and committed to developing, nurturing robust cybersecurity talent and helping organizations build talent pools. It is organized by four priority areas:
- Attracting talent to the cybersecurity field;
- Educating and training cybersecurity professionals;
- Recruiting the right people;
- Retaining existing cybersecurity professionals;
Fortinet’s early engagement and ongoing leadership within the World Economic Forum and the company’s continued commitment and efforts to shrink the cyber skills gap, Fortinet experts, including our founder and CEO Ken Xie, were invited to contribute to this initiative and were instrumental in the development of the framework. They committed to training 1 million professionals in cybersecurity by 2026 through our many Fortinet Training Institute initiatives.
