Advancements in Cybersecurity Research in Mongolia

On February 24, 2025, Public CSIRT/CC Mongolia and the National Institute for Security Studies of Mongolia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their collaboration in advancing national cybersecurity research and capabilities. This partnership aims to address Mongolia's cybersecurity challenges and improve its global standing in cybersecurity preparedness.

 

According to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mongolia is ranked 103rd among 194 countries. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications has identified enhanced cooperation as one of the priorities for improvement.

 

The partners agreed that their work will make a substantial contribution to improving Mongolia's ranking in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024. This collaboration is seen as a significant step forward in Mongolia's journey toward becoming a more secure and resilient nation in the face of growing cyber threats. They are committed to advancing Mongolia's position in the Global Cybersecurity Index and ensuring a safer digital future for all citizens.

The Cyber Security Council receives information about information security incidents, phishing attempts, malware and vulnerabilities.
